NaNoWriMo, Anyone?

sim's picture

Howdy, all. Anyone else doing NaNoWriMo? I try every year, but crap out at about 10k words. This year, I'm going to try it again. I'm thinking about posting my daily output, but I'm worried that it won't be SF enough and that it will be very rough. I'm always hesitant about posting first draft. Any thoughts?

I'm in

2k a day, even if it goes nonsensical for bits.

Man, every year I think

Man, every year I think seriously about it, but it's always caught me when I don't have time for it. Same problem this time around, unfortunately. But NaNoWriMo is such a great idea. Maybe next year!

I, for one, am all for you posting what you have every day. Don't worry about it being rough. You can always polish it later.

I'm reminded of Raymond Chandler's comment from The Simple Art of Murder that if the story slows down, just have a guy come through a door with a gun. Maybe if you're worried about it not being SF enough, you could just have a spaceship suddenly touch down in a field? =)

write first,

post later. From what I've heard from other nanowrimo vets is that writing is all there's really time for.
